Man caught driving drunk 31 miles over speed limit to get home before burger turns cold

A drunk man who was pulled over for speeding on a highway, told police officers that he rushed home so that his burger shouldn’t turn cold, police in Australia said.

Melbourne police said that the unidentified man will be charged with speeding offenses after driving 50 kilometers (31 miles) over the speed limit.

The man was detected traveling 123 kilometers (76 miles) per hour in a 70 kilometers (43 miles) per hour zone around 12:00 a.m.

The man was ordered to undergo a breathalyzer test, and the result showed that he was legally drunk. His license was suspended at the scene.

He will be charged with speeding and drunk driving. The man will have to pay $851 to get his car back after 28 days.

During questioning, the man told police that he was rushing home so that the food he bought at a restaurant shouldn’t turn cold.
