A bank executive was arrested, charged and convicted of insulting the modesty of a woman after taking an upskirt video of a young woman who was riding on an escalator, prosecutors in Singapore said.
Now, 45-year-old Yuen Kum Fai of Marina Bay, was ordered to pay a fine of $6,000 after being found guilty of the crime.
According to the police investigation, Fai was the global head of private and preferred banking at Standard Chartered Bank, at the time of the crime.
Fai was fired from his position after the allegations came to light.
After a three-day trial, Fai was convicted of intruding the privacy of the 27-year-old woman on an escalator in the Marina Bay Link Mall.
The court heard that Fai and the woman were on the escalator when he took the upskirt video. A police officer noticed what Fai was doing and arrested him.
Fai insisted that he had no intention of taking an upskirt video, but was taking video of the woman’s clothing. Two other women made similar claims against Fai, but he was found not guilty of those charges.
