Westmoreland County police said that they have arrested 43-year-old Karen Gillespie and 23-year-old Courtney Jording, after a social services employee saw the daughter injecting heroin into her mother’s arm.
The car was parked at a gas pump with a 6-month-old boy sitting in the back seat. Both were arrested and charged with drug possession, criminal conspiracy and endangering the welfare of a child.
They were booked into the Westmoreland County Jail, and bail was set at $10,000 each.
According to the police investigation, the boy was in the back seat with a wet diaper and was not properly secured in a child safety seat.
Police found 41 bags of heroin in the car, but no diapers. The baby was handed over to the custody of his grandparents.
