(Scroll down for video) A cafe in Japan, announced that it sold specialty cheesecake made from gorilla feces for $3.25 a slice.

Researchers at the Kyoto University, have created the cheesecake by extracting a certain strain of bacteria from the feces of gorillas.

The unusual treat was available in the university cafe for two days last week. Juichi Yamagiwa, the president of the university, showed off the new cake to the public.

The bacteria used to bake the cheesecake was originally discovered in Africa, where researchers studied gorilla feces.

The bacteria usually live in the gut of the gorillas, but can be carried out of the body through feces. The researchers grew the bacteria in a laboratory before using it to make yogurt.

Then the milk product was used to make the cheesecake.

According to those who ate the cake, the dessert has a distinct flavor. Only 150 portions of the dessert were available and they were sold for 399 yen ($3.25) each.
