(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested after he teased police officers by joyriding on a jail lawn.
The man of Spring Hill, Florida, who took a trip across the lawn of the Hernando County Detention Center, was booked into jail.
The sheriff’s office said the incident began when Michael Lee Roberts, 31, went to the jail for an unknown reason and parked his SUV on the sidewalk.
Sergeant Steven Wegner told Roberts that he could not park his truck on the sidewalk at the main entrance of the detention center.
Roberts refused to move the vehicle. Sergeant Werner escorted him outside and told him again to move his SUV, but Roberts refused.
At that time, another deputy came outside and told Roberts to move the vehicle off the sidewalk. Roberts became angry and decided to tease the officers.
He got into his vehicle and began joyriding on the lawn of the detention center.
At one point, he drove towards the building and straight for a deputy’s cruiser. When he came close to the vehicle, he swerved out of the way before hitting a flag pole.
Deputies ordered him out of the car, and when he did, he was approached by several deputies and taken into custody.
Roberts was charged with criminal mischief and two counts of resisting an officer without violence.
