(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested on a charge of rape after raping a girl on the street in broad daylight while threatening her with a knife, police in Australia said.

Prosecutors told the County Court that 59-year-old Christopher James Bahen, recorded girls who had been walking in front of his home in the weeks before the rape of the 17-year-old girl.

Bahen had a map on which he marked the location of a nearby school and his home. Bahen pleaded guilty to raping the 17-year-old girl.

According to the police investigation, when Bahen saw the girl, he ran after her, forced her to the ground and then raped her while threatening her with a bloody knife.

He also made disparaging remarks about her. The attack occurred around 4:30 p.m. The girl had been walking home from school with headphones on when she was attacked.

Prosecutors played a video in court, showing the girl walking past the house and Bahen pulling the knife from his pocket.

Bahen lived alone and had never been in an intimate relationship. He had been drinking alcoholic beverages steadily for three days before the attack.
