(Scroll down for video) An airline in Uzbekistan, announced that it began weighing passengers before boarding in order to make sure to distribute the weight evenly on the plane.
“Please be informed that Uzbekistan Airways carries out the procedure of preflight weighing for determination of the average weight of passengers with hand baggage,” the airline wrote on its website.
“According to the rules of the International Air Transport Association, airlines are obliged to carry out preflight weighing of passengers with hand baggage to observe requirements for ensuring flight safety,” the company also wrote.
After passing the check-in and prior to boarding into the aircraft, passengers are weighed with a special machine placed in the departure zone of the airport.
The weighing records will only contain the corresponding passenger category such as male, female, and child. The full confidentiality of passengers is guaranteed, the airline promised.
