(Scroll down for video) Three women were arrested on charges of murder after they allegedly killed their friend in order to steal her food stamps card, police in Alabama said.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said that they arrested Karen Kirby, Tamara Giarrusso, and Susan Otts, in connection with the murder of 34-year-old Miranda Michelle Lynch.
Kirby, 57, admitted to hitting Lynch during an argument. As the investigation continued, police learned that the women wanted to get access to the victim’s food stamps card.
Otts, 39, and Giarrusso, 43, learned that the victim was in possession of her injured boyfriend’s food stamps card, and they wanted it for themselves.
Police said that they received a call from a neighbor of the women in the 5800 block of Dianes Drive around 11:30 a.m., to report screaming coming from a mobile home.
When police arrived, Lynch was found dead on the bathroom floor.
Kirby admitted to striking the victim in the head several times with different objects after Lynch refused to give them access to her boyfriend’s food stamps card.
All three women were booked into jail on charges of murder.
They were all denied bail.
