A professional football player is lucky to still have his foot after stepping into a pile of dog feces while training, doctors in the United Kingdom said.
29-year-old Jonny Stiles, who plays for the Newport Rugby Club in South Wales, was hospitalized for six days after his foot became infected.
According to doctors who treat the player, a cut on his foot became infected after stepping into a pile of dog feces that was left on the field.
Doctors managed to save the foot, but urged pet owners to clean up after their dogs as the next victim might not be so lucky.
Doctors said that the football player will be left with a permanent scar and blood circulation problems due to the damage caused by the infection.
