Woman bites off man’s ear because he bumped into her on a crowded train

A woman was arrested on a charge of assault after allegedly biting off the ear of a man because he bumped into her while riding on a train, police in New York said.

The New York Police Department said that the dispute began on a train in Manhattan around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

After a brief struggle in the train, the dispute moved onto the platform at the Chambers Street station. According to the police investigation, 56-year-old Louis Tinto put the woman in a headlock.

29-year-old Lauren Christopher responded by biting off the left side of Tinto’s left ear. Christopher was charged with assault.

She was treated for swelling of the face and neck. Tinto was also charged with assault. He was treated at a hospital for injuries to his ear.

The part of the ear that was bit off has been recovered. He also suffered scratches and lacerations to the face. The woman told police that the dispute began after the man bumped into her on the crowded train.
