Many people were affected after hackers released the names, email addresses and private information of people who had accounts on Ashley Madison.
While some people filed lawsuits against Ashley Madison, 2 men may have reacted to the embarrassment by committing suicide, police said.
Police in Canada, said that they believe that the men committed suicide after their names were found to be associated with Ashley Madison.
In a press conference on Monday, police confirmed that a person committed suicide after he was exposed for using the extramarital affairs website.
Another person, Captain Michael Gorhum of the United States, who served for 25 years with the Police Department in San Antonio, Texas, also committed suicide after he was exposed for using the website.
Police in Toronto, warned that there were cases of people attempting to extort money from Ashley Madison clients who are desperately trying to stop the exposure of their infidelity.
Authorities in Canada, Australia and the United States, are working to track down the people responsible for hacking the website.
Avid Life Media Inc., the parent company of the website, is offering a $500,000 reward to catch hackers.
