A woman was arrested on charges of burglary after allegedly breaking into a home in order to steal prescription drugs, police in Kentucky said.
Madisonville police said that they arrested 42-year-old Mary Smith, after she decided to do a good deed and call police to report a fire in the home.
The incident unfolded on Saturday night around 9:00 p.m., as Smith was in the house looking for prescription drugs and cigarette filters.
While she was in the house, Smith realized that the stove was on and it might catch on fire. She dialed 911, and the police officer who arrived at the scene, arrested her for burglary.
She was booked into the Hopkins County jail, and her bail was set at $2,000.
Police said that Smith lives on the same block of the house she burglarized, and admitted to firefighters that she stole a red wagon.
