While some people save a slice of their wedding cake for their first anniversary, one couple saved their wedding cake for 60 years.

Ann and Ken Fredericks of Satellite Beach, Florida, celebrated their 60th anniversary and they did with a unique tradition created when they were first married.

The couple, Ken, 85, and Ann, 81, saved the top layer of their wedding cake and eat a piece of it every single year for the past 60 years.

Every year on their anniversary, the couple toast to their long and happy marriage by opening a container of Maxwell House coffee that holds the remains of their wedding cake.

The cake is not just any cake, it was made for the couple by Ann’s grandmother six decades ago. Ann said that her grandmother baked the dark fruit cake, which was a family tradition.

After baking the cake, Ann’s grandmother took the cake to a baker and had it iced.

The couple who were married in Nyack, New York, saved the top layer of the cake and they pour the brandy over it to keep it moist.
