A businessman was ordered to pay a lot of money as punishment for stinking up a neighborhood.
The owner of a golf club in Escondido, California, was accused of spreading chicken manure on the golf course to annoy the neighbors.
The business owner reportedly agreed to settle the case by paying a $100,000 fine to air pollution regulators.
San Diego County’s Air Pollution Control District said that the owner of the Escondido Country Club, poured 5 tons of raw chicken manure on the golf course, which was no longer open for business.
Owner Michael Schlesinger said that the stuff he put on the grass was soil enhancer for landscaping. However, homeowners believe that the manure was placed to disturb residents who fought his plans to build hundreds of homes on the property.
As part of the agreement, Schlesinger didn’t acknowledge any wrongdoing.
