(Scroll down for video) Several Bloomingdale’s customers reported that the balance on their gift cards suddenly exploded to $25,000.
It all began when customers received an email from the store last week, notifying them of their new big credit balance.
The company said that at least one gift card holder quickly took advantage of the error. That man, who was not identified, bought expensive diamond earrings, a new watch and a Louis Vuitton bag.
Several other customers who tried using the gift cards, were denied. Bloomingdale’s is asking anyone who made purchases with the gift cards to return the items.
A spokesperson for the company said that the glitch occurred after software confused customer reward points balances for dollar amounts.
