Hartford, Connecticut, police said that they have arrested 21-year-old Danei Washington Gordon, after being accused of cracking open the head of 73-year-old Neville Smith, who urged him to give up drugs.

Miami police said that they have requested that Gordon be extradited to the state to face a charge of second degree murder.

Smith was a taxi driver for most of his life, and he lived in the Miami area for more than 30 years.

According to the police investigation, Everton Blake returned to his home in the 14200 block of Northeast Second Court, and found Smith lying in a pool of blood on the bathroom floor.

Blake, who lived in the house with Gordon and Smith, told police that the two men were alone at home when he went to work early in the morning.

Gordon had been living with Smith since he arrived illegally from Jamaica. Investigators believe that Gordon killed Smith because he urged him to give up on drugs.
