(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested on a charge of murder after allegedly killing a convicted child rapist in a public toilet, police in New Zealand said.
Now, 26-year-old Turei Kingi of Hamilton, pleaded guilty to murder for killing 71-year-old Jacques Donker, by hitting him over the head with a bottle of alcohol.
Donker was convicted of rape for indecently assaulting and having unlawful sexual contact with a 13-year-old boy. He was sentenced to serve four years and six months in prison.
The High Court heard that Kingi often lived on the streets, but in the three weeks before the murder, he was living with his girlfriend’s grandmother.
Kingi and Donker did not know each other. On the night of the attack, Kingi had been consuming alcohol, cannabis and synthetic marijuana.
He was with two friends when he bought a bottle of alcohol in a liquor store on Peachgrove Road. He then walked around the central business district, where he confronted members of the public.
At that time, Donker parked his car on London Street. Kingi saw him, and he told his friends that he would kill the man. He approached Donker, and asked for food and money.
Donker said “no,” and went to a nearby public bathroom. Kingi kicked open the door and punched Donker in the face. Kingi then took his bottle of alcohol and broke it on the head of Donker.
Kingi told police that Donker made him angry because he had been disrespectful to him.
