(Scroll down for video) The owner of a gasoline station panicked after seeing a dead burglar hanging from the ceiling air condition vent when he opened the shop in the morning, police in Florida said.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday morning, when Moe Hoq opened the Marathon gas station in Riviera Beach.
At first, he noticed that the fire alarms was flashing a red light.
When Hoq turned on the kitchen light, he saw a man in a pair of shorts and sneakers trapped in the ceiling air condition vent.
His legs were not moving. Not sure if the man hanging from the ceiling was alive or dead, he ran across the room and called police.
Police identified the dead burglar as 45-year-old Derrick Collins. Investigators believe that Collins was trying to get into the business through an air condition vent on the roof.
He got stuck and died as the airflow was cut off. The owner of the gas station said that he feels sorry for the burglar and his family.
Collins has a long criminal record, including numerous burglaries.
