A woman was arrested on a charge of child neglect after her baby nearly drowned while being left alone in bathtub full of water, police in Florida said.

Panama City police said that they have arrested Dakota James Panco and Sierra Rain Panco, both 22, after their 10-month-old baby was left alone in the tub and they did not seek medical treatment for hours after the baby swallowed a large amount of water.

Police said that concerned citizens called them after Sierra Panco posted messages on Facebook, stating that she could not continue to live if she lost the child.

According to the police investigation, the baby was left alone in the bathtub on Monday, and was found blue, unresponsive and floating in the water.

Police found the baby and the parents as they sought medical treatment hours after the near drowning incident. Police learned that Sierra Panco put the baby in the tub, turned on the faucet and left while she cleaned the kitchen.

Dakota Panco was watching TV and knew that the baby was alone in the tub. After the mother found the baby in the tub, she performed CPR.

The baby is now in the custody of the Department of Children and Families. Both parents were charged with one count of child endangerment.
