A woman was arrested on a charge of revenge porn after posting nude pictures of her girlfriend on social media sites in order to humiliate her, police in the United Kingdom said.
Now, 24-year-old Paige Mitchell of Stevenage, has been sentenced to serve 8 weeks in jail, which was suspended for 18 months, after pleading guilty to revenge porn and assault.
According to the police investigation, Mitchell uploaded four intimate photos of the victim to her Facebook page. Mitchell said that she posted the photos after being accused by her girlfriend of looking at other women.
Mitchell pleaded guilty to assault and disclosing private sexual pictures and movies with the intention of causing harm.
Mitchell defended herself, saying that removed them from her Facebook page after 30 minutes when her mother told her that posting revenge porn was against the law.
The victim, a mother of a 1-year-old child who was not identified, said that the incident made her feel embarrassed and ashamed to walk down the street.
Mitchell was sentenced to six weeks in jail for revenge porn and two weeks for assault. The jail sentence was suspended for 18 months.
In addition to the jail sentence, Mitchell was ordered to pay 345 pounds ($527) in court fees.
