A boy was arrested on a charge of extortion after allegedly threatening teens and forcing them to give him cash in exchange for not posting their nude selfies on the Internet, police in Australia said.
Gold Coast police said that they have arrested the 17-year-old boy, who was not identified, after forcing the teens to pay him cash in exchange for not publicizing their naked images.
According to the police investigation, the boy hacked Facebook accounts and persuaded teens to send him nude pictures.
After receiving the nude images, the boy demanded hundreds of dollars in exchange for not publishing them. Investigators believe that the boy started hacking Facebook accounts since he was 16 years old.
The boy was charged with hacking, indecent treatment of a child, extortion, possession of child exploitation material and child pornography.
