Hugo Boss was slapped with a lawsuit after a little boy was crushed to death by a mirror inside a store, according to court documents in the United Kingdom.
Now, the company has been ordered to pay $1.8 million after being found guilty of negligence in connection with the death of the 4-year-old boy who was in the store while his parents were shopping.
The Oxford Crown Court heard how the mirror was left in a position that threatened shoppers. Hugo Boss pleaded guilty to violating the health and safety at work.
A spokesperson for Hugo Boss apologized to the family, saying that they understand that no amount of money can alleviate the pain felt by the family of the Austen Harrison.
The mirror weighed 264 pounds. After being hit by the mirror, Austen was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery, but he died four days later.
