(Scroll down for video) A man learned the hard way that taking selfies while driving is not a good idea and can be costly.
Alex Lopatnyuk of Florida, was on a trip with his friends when he used a selfie stick to record himself as he drove his Jeep.
While he was distracted by taking the video, he accidentally hit the back of another vehicle, sending their canoe through his windshield.
Lopatnyuk uploaded the video to YouTube, which shows him driving his jeep on a dirt road while using his GoPro camera on a selfie stick to record himself from outside the window of his vehicle.
Lopatnyuk, a chiropractor in Oakland, was distracted by the camera when he rear ended the truck in front of him, sending the canoe, which was tied to the back of the truck through his windshield.
In the video, he shows the aftermath of the collision. Lopatnyuk was unharmed but his windshield was smashed.
“Gator Hunting with a GoPro for the first time, the selfie failed,” Lopatnyuk wrote in the video description.
In a Facebook post he wrote: “This is why you shouldn’t text and drive or try to take a selfie and drive.”
