A woman asked a judge to grant her a restraining order against her brother after he broke her arm because she did not go to church, according to court documents in Zimbabwe.
Sofia Marovha of Harare, told the judge that Tafirenyika Marovha, stabbed her with a knife and broke her arm as punishment for refusing to join their church.
Sofia also revealed that her brother was violent towards her other sisters who lived together in the same house. She was seeking a protective order against Tafirenyika who is living with them in the house of their deceased parents.
Sofia complained that her brother chased her and her sisters out of the house, claiming that it all belongs to him because he is the firstborn son.
Sofia filed complaints with the police, but they refused to arrest him because of his good relationship with the force.
Tafirenyika denied the allegations, saying that he only physically abused his sister once. The judge ruled in favor of Sofia, and prohibited Tafirenyika from any contact with his sister.
The judge also ordered him to stop chasing his sisters away from his parents’ home because it belongs to them as well.
