A chef was arrested on a charge of assault after he stabbed two people who were smoking marijuana outside his home, police in Florida said.

Palm Springs police said that they have arrested 28-year-old Leopoldo Briceno, after being accused of stabbing the couple as they were smoking marijuana in their car outside his home.

The man and his girlfriend were parked in the 5000 block of Elmhurst Road, when the suspect approached their vehicle and knocked on the window.

Briceno told the couple that they had to leave because they don’t live in the area. The man in the driver’s seat got out and fought with Briceno.

His girlfriend came out of the vehicle to try to break up the fight when they were both stabbed. The man was cut on the arm and neck while the woman was cut on her eye and fingers.

Briceno claims that he was just defending himself and had a knife on him because he is a chef. Briceno was charged with aggravated assault.

He was booked into the Palm Beach County jail, and his bail was set at $20,000.
