Woman beats her dog before placing it in plastic bag and dumping it on train tracks

(Scroll down for video) A woman was arrested on a charge of animal cruelty after besting her dog and dumping it on train tracks, police in New York said.

Now, 35-year-old Alsu Ivanchenko of Staten Island, has been convicted of animal cruelty and she is facing up to two years in prison.

According to the police investigation, Ivanchenko beat the 3-month-old dog named Snowflake and placed it in a plastic bag.

She then drove to South Railroad Avenue, where she threw the bag out the window of her car and onto the train tracks.

Ivanchenko left the dog to die. Passersby found the dog in the black plastic bag and rushed it to a hospital. The dog was seriously wounded with two skull fractures, head trauma and bruising.

It also had bloody eyes and a broken leg.

While the injuries were initially considered life threatening, the dog managed to recover, but is still suffering persistent health problems.
