A family was shocked to find $30,000 of marijuana, falling through the roof of their car garage.
Maya Donnelly of Arizona, woke up to what she thought was thunder.
However, after investigating, she discovered that a black plastic package containing 26 pounds of marijuana worth $30,000 had fallen into her Nogales home, which is close to the U.S.-Mexican border.
Police speculate that the bag fell from an airplane or drone belonging to drug dealers.
Donnelly said that the drugs pierced through their garage, causing $500 worth of damages.
Official believe that the marijuana smugglers accidentally dropped the drugs too early, causing it to fall into the woman’s garage.
“Someone definitely made a mistake, and who knows what the outcome of that mistake could mean for them,” Nogales Police Chief Derek Arnson said.
The drugs are now in police custody. Police have increased patrols in the neighborhood.
The family said that their dog’s kennel was also damaged after the marijuana fell from the sky. However, they are grateful that their dog and their 3 teenage daughters were not hurt during the incident.
