Police said that a man is being investigated after allegedly beating up his former girlfriend because she filed a rape complaint with the police, police in the United Kingdom said.
Essex police said that the rape allegations were not prosecuted because they lacked evidence to proceed to trial.
The 42-year-old woman, who was not identified, said that British Gas sent a bill with her new address to the home of her former boyfriend.
The alleged rapist then went to the woman’s home and beat her up. The mother of three children, was punched and kicked repeatedly.
The woman moved out of her boyfriend’s house after suffering 28 years of abuse. She lives with her 12-year-old daughter.
After the attack, the man threatened kill her if she reported the attack to the police.
A spokesperson for British Gas, said that they have apologized for the mistake, and they are doing everything possible to help the woman.
