(Scroll down for video) A taxi driver was shot dead after biting off the finger of a police officer following a single-vehicle accident, police in Florida said.
31-year-old Junior Prosper of Miami, crashed his yellow car into a light pole at the entrance of I-95 early on Monday morning.
The car was slightly damaged. Police officers who arrived at the scene near NW 119th Street, saw Prosper running down NW 119th Street.
Several police officers tried to subdue him and a struggle broke out. Prosper was shot with a Taser, and in response, he bit off a police officer’s finger.
The officer fired his weapon at Prosper, and he died of the gunshot wound.
The officer, who was not identified, was taken to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he underwent surgery to reattach the finger of his left hand.
