(Scroll down for video) A family in Tennessee, is devastated over the senseless death of an 8-year-old girl.
Police arrested an 11-year-old boy on a charge of murder after he allegedly shot the girl during a fight over a puppy.
The boy is accused of killing McKayla Dyer, near her home. Police said that the boy asked Dyer to allow him to play with her dog.
When she refused, he returned home and shot her with a 12-gauge shotgun that belonged to his father. Police said that the boy stayed in his house and shot the girl from the window as she was playing with her friend outside.
The two children attended the White Pine Elementary school, according to Sheriff McCoig.
McKayla’s mother Latasha, said that the boy, who has not been named, bullied her daughter many times before.
“He was teasing her, calling her names and just being mean to her,” Latasha said.
The mother said that she went to the school principal to discuss the bullying and things got better for a short time before the bully shot her dead.
The broken-hearted mother said that her daughter always made people smile. “No matter how bad of a mood you were in she could always make you smile,” she said.
