A worker at an auto body shop was arrested on a charge of murder after allegedly killing his colleague with an air pump because he was jealous that his boss gave him compliments about his work, police in India said.
Kalachowki police said that they have arrested 48-year-old Santosh Aarekar, after being accused of killing 42-year-old Mohammed Yaqub Shaikh.
According to the police investigation, Aarekar used an air pump to pump air into the body of the victim until he died. Shaikh was a friend of Aarekar, and they knew each other for three years.
Aarekar was jealous of his friend as he used to get compliments from their boss. Other workers at the shop told investigators that Aarekar used to hit Shaikh, every time their boss complimented the victim.
On Tuesday, Aarekar tied Shaikh’s hands, took an air pipe used to inflate tires, and inserted into the victim’s backside. The air pressure caused Shaikh to collapse.
He was taken to the KEM Hospital, where his condition deteriorated. During questioning, Aarekar told the police that he did not intend to kill his friend.
