Two police officers lost their jobs after being caught calling black people c***s and monkeys, police in the United Kingdom said.
One of the officers, George Cooper, worked at the SO6 unit, which guards government offices in Downing Street.
The second officer, Stephen Newbury, worked in London. The officer’s racist text messages were discovered during an unrelated investigation.
When investigators reviewed the officers’ cellphones, they discovered racist and discriminatory messages, a disciplinary tribunal heard.
One of the messages included references to blacks as monkeys.
One officer suggested that since blacks act like monkeys they should go live in the forest.
Newbury wrote at least 24 messages with improper content to other officers, while Cooper wrote eight inappropriate messages.
Both officers were fired after being found guilty of serious misconduct.
