(Scroll down for video) A teenage boy is serious condition after he told his friends to set him on fire for a social media fire challenge, police in Florida said.
According to the police investigation, 15-year-old Robert Seals of Pine Hills, hung out with several friends in front of his house on Monday around 7:00 p.m.
Seals, and two other children aged 15 and 12, decided to record a fire challenge in order to post the video on YouTube.
Seals doused himself with alcohol and asked the other boys to set him ablaze with a lighter. Investigators determined that Seals willingly and voluntarily participates in the fire challenge.
Investigators also saw the video of the incident. Seals’ aunt however, claims that her nephew would never do such a stupid thing as he loved playing basketball.
Lisa Oliphant said that she looked out the window of her home when she heard noise and saw her nephew engulfed in flames.
Paramedics who arrived at the scene, saw that Seals had difficulties breathing. Seals was taken to a nearby hospital.
Seals is currently heavily sedated in the Intensive Care Unit with white bandages covering his chest. His neck and lower face were severely swollen and discolored.
