A man who was arrested on charges of assault and drug possession, attempted to escape from a courthouse by climbing into the ceiling, police in Australia said.
Darwin police said that the suspect was brought to the Darwin Magistrate’s Court around 3:00 p.m. on Monday, when he attempted to escape.
The man, who was identified as 26-year-old Michael David Pearce, was waiting to appear before the judge when he decided to climb the wall and hide in the ceiling.
However, after a few minutes, he fell through the ceiling and onto the floor of the court. The man did not suffer any serious injuries.
Pearce was in court after being charged with aggravated assault and possession of methamphetamine. He now faces additional charges, including escape and property damage.
