6 and 8-year-old kids undergo surgery to donate scalp to father burned in accident

A father is grateful to his young children for saving his life by donating their scalp to him.

The young siblings of China, agreed to undergo surgery to donate part of their scalp in order to save their father who was badly burned.

Wang Xiyong, who is in his 30s, had been seriously wounded in a high voltage electrical accident and needed an immediate skin transplant.

His 8-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter volunteered to donate part of their scalp. The mother said that she was struggling with expensive medical bills in Neijiang City.

At first, the mother was apprehensive to using her young children. The wife, Li, wanted doctors to take her scalp, but she was informed that the use of the scalp of a blood relative would be safer and would also give Wang a better chance of recovery.

Doctors assured Li that their children will recover completely.

She was also told that using the skin of relatives would ensure better results. After explaining the situation to her children, the mother said that they volunteered to undergo surgery to save their father.

Mr. Wang suffered burns on 91 percent of his body.
