An airport employee was arrested on a charge of theft after allegedly stealing nuts for a passenger’s luggage, police in the United Arab Emirates said.
Investigators told the Dubai Criminal Court that the 21-year-old baggage handler identified as M. A., was seen looking through passengers’ luggage before taking out a box of mixed nuts from one of them.
After being arrested, M. A. allegedly admitted to looking through luggage in order to steal food. He also admitted to taking a box of mixed nuts from one piece of luggage and consuming it.
In August, two airport workers have been arrested on charges of theft after allegedly stealing chocolate bars from passengers’ luggage, police in the United Arab Emirates said.
Dubai police said that 20-year-old P.S. and 24-year-old L.K., who both work at the Dubai International Airport, are accused of stealing Kit Kat chocolate bars.
According to the police investigation, the head of security at the airport saw the men carrying luggage onto a plane and saw one of them opening bags.
He then noticed that the workers took chocolate bars from the bags. During questioning by police, P.S. confessed to taking chocolate bars and hiding them in his pockets.
He said that he ate one bar and gave the other three bars to L. K. The two men pleaded guilty at the Dubai Criminal Court.
