(Scroll down for video) A young man who became agitated and violent during a flight from Portugal to Ireland, collapsed and died after biting another passenger, police in Ireland said.
Cork police said that 24-year-old John Kennedy Santos Gurjao, who collapsed aboard the Aer Lingus flight on Sunday, was traveling with a 44-year-old woman.
The woman, who was not identified, was arrested after police found a large amount of drugs in her luggage.
Investigators said that the man ingested drugs, which caused him to become violent and suffer seizures, leading to his death.
The man from Brazil, was traveling on a flight EI 485 from Lisbon to Dublin, when he was restrained. He bit a passenger who helped members of the crew.
The man was subdued and handcuffed, but some time later, he collapsed and was treated by a doctor who advised the captain that he was in critical condition.
The man was shaking violently as he suffered what appeared to be a series of convulsions. The flight diverted to Cork Airport, and paramedics who came aboard the plane, confirmed that he was dead.
The male passenger who was attacked and bitten, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. There were 168 passengers and six crew members on board the plane.
