(Scroll down for video) A man was killed by a car while cleaning up his dog’s blood from a road after it was run over by another vehicle minutes earlier, police in New York said.
The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office said that 55-year-old Robert Strassel, was tending to his dead dog around 5:30 a.m. on Monday, after it was hit by a car on Akron Road.
According to the police investigation, officers were at the scene after Strassel reported that a car hit his dog. The dog was pronounced dead, and the dog owner went to clean up the blood on the road.
While he was on the road, Strassel was hit by a vehicle. Strassel was taken to the Erie County Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.
The car that hit Strassel was driven by a 23-year-old man, who said that he didn’t see the victim. No charges have been filed against the drivers.
The 23-year-old driver agreed to have a blood test taken, and it showed that he had no drugs or alcohol in his system.
