A tenant was arrested on a charge of manslaughter after allegedly pushing his landlord down a flight of stairs during an argument of his use of too much hot water, police in the United Kingdom said.
Bristol police said that they have arrested 22-years-old Jesse Harper, after being accused of causing the death of 55-year-old Joanna Doman.
The Bristol Crown Court heard that Doman, left her home a week before her death after hitting Harper during an argument over his use of hot water.
She returned every morning to feed her cats.
One morning, as Doman stood at the top of the stairs trying to turn off the hot water, Harper pushed her and she fell down the stairs.
Doman sustained severe head injuries and was transported to the Southmead Hospital, where she died. When Harper was arrested, he told officers that Doman pushed him before falling down the stairs.
The mother of Doman, Josephine Farr, said that she heard the entire incident because she was on the phone with her daughter at the time.
The phone connection was cut after Doman fell down the stairs. Farr tried to call her back, but she didn’t answer. Harper paid Doman 160 pounds ($247) a month for his room.
