(Scroll down for video) A young girl is out of school for a month after she playfully threw a carrot at her former teacher.
Karrie May said that her daughter Aliya, was suspended from school, and she faces serious charges for throwing the carrot at her former teacher.
May of Henrico County, Virginia, calls the entire incident “stupid.”
The 14-year-old girl, who is an honor student at the Moody Middle School, was suspended for a month, for throwing the carrot.
The carrot hit the teacher in the forehead before falling to the ground. The teacher reported the incident to school officials and Aliya was suspended.
School records described the carrot as a weapon. She was also charged criminally with serious crimes of assault and battery with a weapon.
Karrie May said that detention would have been a more appropriate punishment for her daughter.
“Yes, it happened, and I can see a couple of days in school detention or even a couple days out-of-school suspension. however, this goes way beyond that,” May said.
