A man had to be rescued by firefighters after falling asleep in a toilet during a football game and being locked inside a stadium for several hours, police in the United Kingdom said.

Firefighters of Barnsley, received a call around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, after passersby noticed the 20-year-old man screaming for help inside the Oakwell stadium.

The man came to the stadium earlier in the day, to watch a match between The Reds and Fleetwood Town. During the break, the man went to the toilet and fell asleep as a result of drinking too many beers.

When he woke up around 10:30 p.m., he left the toilet and walked into the dark hallway. This set off the alarms and the police were notified.

The man made his way into the football field and climbed on top of a tall structure. Firefighters and police officers who arrived at the scene, saw the man waving frantically to get their attention.

He was rescued with a ladder. The man lost his shoes, hat and cellphone. He was asleep for about seven hours.
