(Scroll down for video) A young boy of Louisiana, was tragically killed after his father fled from police.
The 6-year-old boy was shot dead in an officer involved shooting on Tuesday night in Marksville, State Police said.
Trooper Scott Moreau said that officers were chasing the car, and when the driver finally stopped, shots were fired.
The father was driving his car with his son sitting in the front passenger seat when the shots were fired. The father was taken to a hospital, where he is in critical condition.
His 6-year-old son was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds to his head and chest.
Officials identified the boy as Jeremy Mardis, a first grader at a nearby elementary school. His father, the driver of the vehicle, was identified as Chris Few.
The Louisiana State Police (LSP) will investigate the shooting involving the Marksville Police Department. The shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m., on Martin Luther King Drive in Marksville.
“The preliminary investigation has revealed that City Marshals from Ward 2 discharged their duty weapons at a vehicle following a pursuit. The driver of the fleeing vehicle is in critical condition and a six-year-old passenger has been pronounced dead,” LSP wrote on the their Facebook page.
