(Scroll down for video) A young man was shocked to learn that he was kidnapped from his mother when he was 5 years old and lived under a false name.
Julian Hernandez went missing in 2002 from Birmingham, Alabama, while his mother had custody of him. Police searched for him and suspected that he had been abducted by his father, Bobby Hernandez, 53.
The boy, who is an honor student, was looking to sign up for college when school officials learned that his social security number does not match his name.
After looking into the situation, they learned that the boy was living under a false name and he was on the missing persons database.
Police were notified, and his father Bobby Hernandez was arrested.
Police said that 13 years ago, Bobby was supposed to take his son to preschool, but instead, he withdrew cash from his bank accounts, took some of Julian’s possessions and fled.
The father and son were living in Cleveland, Ohio, where the father was arrested. Bobby’s attorney said that he is very distraught as he loves his son and he raised Julian to be the honor student that he is.
Bobby was charged in connection with the abduction, while Julian is in contact with his mother, who is overjoyed that he was found.
