A man was jailed after killing his former wife because she revealed that he is not the father of his oldest son, a court in the United Kingdom heard.
65-year-old Ernest Davenport admitted that he flew into rage after his former wife, Susan, 63, informed him that he was not the biological father of their oldest son.
Ernest Davenport called 999 and told an operator: “I think I killed my wife.”
The couple was married for 40 years and had 3 children together. Susan left her husband 4 years ago, and she went to live with another man.
On the fateful day, she came to her former husband’s house in Bury, Manchester, and asked him to sign papers relating to the sale of a house they owned.
While she was there, they began arguing about money. In the Liverpool Crown Court, Ernest Davenport claimed his former wife had repeatedly taunted him saying: “my new partner is a lot better than you.”
She also allegedly said: “You’re not half the man you think you are.” When asked what she meant, she explained that their older son, Mark, now 38, was not his biological son.
Ernest Davenport said that he became angry and he wanted to stop the arguing. He pulled a knife from the kitchen drawer and stabbed her twice in the chest.
The couple’s son Michael, stumbled upon the gruesome scene after turning up for his weekly visit of his father.
