A couple was arrested on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child after allegedly leaving their 1-year-old child alone in a hotel room while going out for a night of drinking, police in New York said.
The New York Police Department said that the have arrested 28-year-old Jenna Roloph and 31-year-old Douglas Lopez, both of Staten Island, after police determined that their 11-month-old daughter was left alone in the hotel room.
Both were charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
They were booked into jail, and Roloph was released without bail while Lopez’s bail was set at $2,000. According to the police investigation, officers had been called to room 502 of the Holiday Inn for a welfare check.
Police officers who arrived at the scene, found that the parents were extremely intoxicated. The girl was sleeping in a crib, and the temperature was 85 degrees.
Police officers reviewed the hotel’s surveillance cameras, which showed the couple leaving the room without their daughter and coming back one hour and 20 minutes later.
