(Scroll down for video) Two female police officers shot and killed a man because he held a gun in his hand before learning that he was also a police officer.
25-year-old Cesar Cuellar of Texas, who is a Webb County sheriff’s deputy, was shot and killed in front of his distraught mother, who said that she begged police officers not to shoot her son.
The woman said that her son had a gun and pointed it to the ground when the Laredo police officers opened fire.
Cuellar’s mother said that she was supposed to go out with her son for breakfast. When she arrived at his apartment around 11:00 a.m., she saw two officers pointing guns at her son.
She said that her son, who is also a police office, was holding a gun, but he pointed it at the floor and he was not moving when they shot and killed him.
Police said that they were responding to a report from a person who said that she received text messages from Cuellar, saying that he was going to harm himself.
When officers arrived and saw Cuellar with a gun, they ordered him to drop it. When he did not comply, they shot him. The two female police officers who killed Cuellar, have been placed on administrative leave.
Cuellar has been in law enforcement for six years.
