(Scroll down for video) A woman was arrested on a charge of assault after allegedly killing her friend because she borrowed her shoes, police in Florida said.
Pompano Beach police said that they have arrested 18-year-old Cortez Fields, after being accused of pushing Nicole Hewitt, 21, down a flight of stairs during an argument over shoes.
Fields was charged with one count of aggravated battery causing injury or disability. She was booked into jail, and she was denied bail.
According to the police investigation, the fight began early on Sunday around 12:00 a.m., inside an apartment building located at 350 Sixth Street NW.
Hewitt had borrowed shoes and Fields wanted it back. Fields punched Hewitt in his face and caused Hewitt to fall backwards.
Hewitt her head in the stairwell. Hewitt then got up and went after Fields. Fields then pushed Hewitt down a flight of stairs and beat her head until she fell unconscious.
Hewitt was taken to the Broward Health North Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Hewitt suffered trauma to the face and head.
