A man was shocked when he returned home from a business trip to find other people living in his house.
44-year-old Craig Arnolds of the United Kingdom, went to the United States for a business trip and accidentally left his iPhone at home.
When he returned home from New York, he found that the locks had been changed and six students lived there. His wife Laura, 42, had packed all of her belongings and she was gone.
Laura of Warwickshire, England, checked the phone and found a message from a U.S. woman, who describes the type of warm welcome Craig would get in New York.
That was when she decided to sell the house, according to Fast Sales Today. Laura explained that she was able to sell the house as it was in her parents’ name because they were paying the mortgage since the couple encountered financial difficulties.
Her parents also gave the couple the down payment for the house. Laura managed to sell the house to students from the University of Warwick within 2 weeks.
Craig returned home to find all the lights on and the television blaring.
“I remember thinking it was really out of character for Laura to be up after 11:00 p.m. I had no idea what the was going on,” the husband said.
He knocked on the door, and was greeted by a 21-year-old man. Craig did not find any of his wife’s belongings. He found his chairs and tables that he had inherited from his late father along with his golf clubs and vintage radio that Laura always hated.
Craig said: “I made a mistake and paid for it dearly.” He is trying to stay on good terms with his estranged wife for the sake of their children.
