A plane passenger was arrested on a charge of assault after smearing his private parts with wine and biting a police officer during a flight from the United Arab Emirates to the United Kingdom.
Now, 46-year-old Jasbir Singh Bharaj of Birmingham, has been sentenced to serve 11 months in jail after being convicted of drunkenness on an aircraft, criminal damage, racially aggravated words and behaviour and common assault.
According to the police investigation, while Bharaj was flying on an Emirates flight from Dubai to Birmingham, he drank vodka mixed with wine before becoming abusive towards the passengers and flight attendants.
Bharaj demanded more alcohol, and when his request was rejected, he swore several times even though there were four young children sitting behind him.
He threatened to punch a flight attendant in the face before dipping his fingers in wine and rubbing it onto his private parts.
A police officer who came on board to arrest Bharaj, was bitten on the arm. Bharaj caused $4,000 in damages on the plane.
