An elderly man in China, was devastated to find that bugs have eaten his cash that he buried in a shallow grave because he didn’t trust the bank.

67-year-old Wu Chen of Deyang, took his life savings and wrapped it in a bag.

He then buried it in a shallow grave. Recently, Chen went to the grave to withdraw some of his 35,000 RMB ($5,475), but was shocked to find that bugs have eaten his cash.

Chen unknowingly used a biodegradable bag and insects quickly managed to eat the money. Luckily, the bank, which Chen did not trust, offered to replace the rotten money for new notes.

In total, the bank replaced 20,000 RMB ($3,128). Chen promised never to bury his cash in the ground and opted to keep his money in the bank.
